With the #26 pick in the draft, Baltimore selects...

Kevinramsfan has the pick.

The Baltimore Ravens Select – Darrius Heyward-Bey - WR - Maryland

With the departure of D-Coordinator Rex Ryan and LB Bart Scott, new Ravens defensive coordinator Greg Mattison may push for this pick to be on defense. However, dating back to the days of Boller and Billick, offense (especially a downfield passing attack) has been somewhat lacking. That’s what Heyward-Bey can bring to this offense. He’s 6’2", 210 lbs. which is average if not somewhat undersized, but he more than makes up for it with his blazing speed. He ran a 4.30 40 at the combine, and while there have been concerns about his discipline concerning route-running, I believe he can still make the whole offense better. The WR corps is thin as it is, and with Derrick Mason at 35 years old, he can step up and be the face of this group for a long time to come. Not to mention he’s from Silver Spring, MD and Baltimore is right up the road from College Park. I think this would be a great move for all involved.

On the clock: Indianapolis, represented by JohnMatuszakloveschunk.

Personally,...

I like Hakeem Nicks over the blazing speed of DHB. He might be the fastest wideout in the draft, but Nicks is more NFL-ready and has just as good “football speed.” Check out my take last month and all over the Ravens blog, at Baltimore Beatdown. Good luck with the 2nd pick.

Oh yeah, good luck with our trash, Kyle Boller.
