Smoke and Mirrors
Today's article in the post says the Rams are considering 4 players: Curry, Monroe, Smith and Sanchez with the number 2. Do you think they're just throwing Sanchez in there to try to garner trade offers for the pick, or are they really considering taking a first round QB with the team in the current state of disarray?
I hope it's the former. The same article is very complimentary of Curry, who I think a lot of fans would like to see them take. If he goes number 1, I personally hope we go Monroe. It would be so nice if Denver wanted the pick. I don't think they do, but man it would be nice to get both their first rounders. I think that could help this team a lot.

I think so too
I did see McShay (I think) this weekend discussing the chances of the Rams taking Stafford, and they weren’t as low as I thought. I don’t see a QB at 2.
What has disappointed me is the lack of talk about the Rams taking Crabtree. It seems that possibility is off the map, and it’s down to J-Smith, Monroe & Curry. Maybe it will pick up as we get closer to the weekend.
This and more on Turf Show Radio, this Thursday at 7pm CST! (i’m going to plug the hell out of this all week to make sure we get at least one caller)

I would sure hope so.
I would be flabbergasted if the Rams took him at #2.

Apparently a lot of teams are worried
about the stress fracture in his foot. If it doesn’t heal properly, or is just the forerunner of more such problems, his value could be reduced quite a bit. It’s so hard to tell what is real and what is smoke at this point.

On drafting QB
Early in the offseason I was very pro-taking-a-QB with our top pick (which tells you the faith I have in Bulger) and addressing other needs through FA and rest of the draft. I have changed my position due to the number of holes we have coupled with the fact that we HAVE to keep Bulger due to his contract (I also didn’t expect us to rid of BOTH Holt and Pace). There are not enough quality FA/affordable via trade or sign with cap situation in our areas of need. So we have to address more immediate/pressing needs for players that can step into MLB,WR, OL right away.
That being said, IF we drafted Sanchez or Stafford should the Lions pass – I wouldn’t be grabbing my pitch fork and torch to storm Rams Park either because I do belive that QB is an area of need by next year. I am of opinion that if a QB of future is not drafted this year then it needs to be next – so if the FO brass thinks Sanchez is a better "get: than anyone they see coming next year……

plus we signed Boller
I’m not saying he’s a Pro Bowler, but he’s certainly a viable backup option, and that lessens the need to draft a QB this year. I completely agree we need to snag one next year, and I am definitely of the opinion that there are some very good QBs coming out next year (i.e. Jevan Snead, Dan LeFevour).

I remember seeing this on Pardon the Interruption,
that Boller threw the football 80 yards from his knees.

So does that mean
we don’t need a good O-line? Hehe. How does he throw on his feet?

No, it just means that he can throw far.

I think....
that the Rams front office is doing a perfect job with Sanchez. They are inviting him in and learning everything they can about him. This works for 2 reasons. 1) You start to build up hype around the Rams going QB which may make our pick trade worthy (I doubt it will happen but it doesn’t hurt). 2) If we were presented with a trade down scenario or if Sanchez falls into round 2 (which is looking less and less likely), the Rams know everything about him and can make an informed decision about him.
It would be a terrible mistake if the Rams never met with Sanchez and knew nothing about him and all of a sudden the draft plays out unexpectedly and he is there for us in round 2. I am not saying that will happen or what the Rams should do if it does happen, but this way we are prepared for everything.
Also this is a team’s only real chance to learn everything about a guy with multiple interviews, workouts, etc. If a few years down the road things haven’t worked out for Sanchez where he was drafted and he is available, this is valuable information you can’t get after the fact. For example, the teams that really scouted Brady Quinn in depth are in a good position to make an informed trade for him right now, instead of hoping he is a good young QB.
That being said I would probably yell “What the f***!!” at my TV if they drafted Sanchez at #2 overall. For what we are paying the Bulge and the other holes we have to fill, it would be a pretty serious gamble.

Didn't Monroe fail 12 physicals?
Or was that someone else? I heard it on the radio and I thought they were talking about Monroe. I’m not sure I want to take a guy who has failed 12 physicals, I’d rather go with Jason Smith.

According to RotoWorld, two teams have "red-flagged" Monroe
Not the same thing, at all. And the player you probably overheard being discussed on the radio was Anthony Munoz, who failed 14 physicals according to Peter King’s most recent MMQB. Munoz turned out to be a pretty good player, or something like that.

Devaney said
in yesterday’s chat that he was comfortable with Monroe’s knee.

Genunine Interest
I think there may be some Legitimate interest. Hopefully the Rams will take the best player regardless of position or trade down so a team like Washington will jump up to get Sanchez.
