they gave TO 1-year, $6.5 million. Holt, for a team that acquires via trade, would get $6+ million. Who would you rather have?
Trading Holt is still going to be tough, since teams can wait it out, but this deal means Holt is certain to get paid as a free agent
one difference
Teams would only want TO for a year to make sure he doesn’t destroy the franchise from within. Anyone who takes on Holt is going to want his services locked up until retirement.

of course, there’s always the media attention from having TO.
I’m at the father-in-law’s house, where the NFL network is always on as background fodder and it’s been all TO all night. you’d think it was d-day or something
