Jason Smith and trick plays
I don't know what's going on today (ahem, bored at work & waiting for the tourney to start, ahem) but my head's started racing, filling up with all kinds of zany thoughts about the multitude of possibilities unfolding before the rebuilding Rams. Try this on for size:
Assume the Rams draft OT Jason Smith with the second pick. Smith, you'll recall, is a converted TE. So, with him on the team think we'll see an occasional "trick" play with Smith declared an eligible receiver? Think about it, a quick fade route to Smith on 2nd and goal...just something to catch the defense by surprise and use Smith's ample size to plow through a late arriving cornerback.
Just something to think about.

Because you mention it...
My Gamecocks did exactly that in a crucial spot against Kentucky this year. Tight end Weslye Saunders (# 88), checks in as a tackle eligible receiver and makes a big play. The Head Ball Coach always has something up his sleeve…Ladies and Gentlemen, the Cajun Play.
You know...
I kinda like that. All the Rams trick plays I’ve seen in the past 2 years are “we’ve seen this somewhere before, but are doing it wrong” plays.
that kind of sums up the Rams
the last five years

Honestly
I think something like that might work on occasion, but Spagnuolo doesn’t strike me as the type to use many trick plays, at least on offense. It might be different if Shurmur is given playcalling duties, however. I don’t really have a read on him.
