Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Those are the types of things I wanted to pass along to these guys. In terms of what they're doing, Tye Hill is ready for a breakout season. Ron Bartell has had back-to-back good seasons, as has O.J. But I just preached to them, 'Just stay consistent and maximize your own individual abilities.' They really have a desire to be great, and I think those guys have the chance to have a special secondary next year. From a peer pressure perspective, I just made sure that we worked our behinds off. Regardless of the record, regardless of anything else that was going on, this group was going to work. That's what I was about.

Corey Chavous shares his thoughts on the Rams secondary, from part one of Football Outsiders interview with Corey Chavous. Be sure to give this a read. It's a great piece, and makes it fairly obvious that the next stage of Chavous football career ought to be in the front office or coaching.

Hill

I hope that breakout season is coming. I haven’t give up on him yet.

I've given up on Hill

But hopefully he proves me wrong and plays great. Let’s just see them play some inspiring football.

Hill

Im giving Hill another chance he has a new coach who is all about defensive also will be surrounded by some rising stars in Bartel,Otogwae, and Butler now I know he wants to show those guys why he was picked in the first round .

Totally agree

Hill was starting to look somewhat solid before the wheels just totally came off last season. He’s never going to be worthy of his draft slot, but I think he still has the ability to be a solid nickel and spot starter. I’m confident that the regime change can rejuvenate his career.

Good interview

Chavous speaks with a lot of depth of knowledge — you can see how he acquired leadership roles year after year. Can’t wait to read part 2.

"Attaway to stomp 'em. Stomp the piss out of 'em. Stomp 'em when they're down. Kick 'em and stomp 'em. Attaway to go boys. Pound that old Budweiser into you and go get them tomorrow." -- Joe Schultz
