SS Roy Williams to hit the market?
There may be another big name strong safety on the free agent market. NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports that the Cowboys could cuy SS Roy L. Williams.
Williams is not known for his coverage skills, though as recently as 2006 he had 5 INTs. He's an old school run-stopping safety, and Cowboys watchers would like to either turn him into a LB or turn him loose. The Rams, however, have O.J. Atogwe who gives them a playmaker at FS, which would give the Rams the flexibility to have a run-stopped like Williams at SS (which also depends how they shake out at CB).
Williams turns 29 in August. He was injured most of last season, making a comeback attempt in the Cowboys loss to the Rams where he reinjured himself.

No, no, no. The guy is done. Jason Sehorn done.

That's a low blow.
Getting two tickets to an execution is like getting two tickets to NASCAR, except you KNOW Jeff Gordon's gonna die.

I have a serious question to ask for VanRam, 3K, and anyone else that might want to weigh in
Are the Rams really going to be players in the Free Agent market? We keep hearing names being thrown out there, but who, realistically, we might sign. Keeping the our salary cap in mind, who we might draft and what our biggest needs are. I keep hearing about us drafting Crabtree, I think we have bigger, more important needs right now, not to mention drafting a highly hyped WR early in the first round scares the hell out of me. I think there are enough veteran WR’s available that can fill that void for the short term. Thanks for all the work VanRam and 3K, keep up the good work.

they have to be
i don’t think they be players for the big names – like Haynesworth – but they just have too many needs to sit idle. i think they might sign one or two starters, at SS for instance, and round out the depth chart with free agency.
i agree with on the need for WR. It’s a need alright, but not on the same level as fixing the offensive and defensive lines. Crabtree’s a special talent, but some of the talk will just be to keep the hype going in case some team wants him badly enough to make the Rams a nice trade offer.

Thanks for the info.
I like your point on keeping the hype going on Crabtree for a potential trade. If the opportunity presents itself I would love to trade down a few spots and gain a few extra pics. I think if we trade down we can still get a top notch OT. It should be a fascinating off season regardless.

It all depends on each other
The draft depends on who we sign in free agency and who we sign in free agency depends on who we think we can draft at #2.
If we sign a FA center, we don’t need to draft one. If we don’t sign one, we have to spend either our second or third (and arguably, just second) draft picks to fill the spot.
If we don’t keep Holt in St. Louis but keep Orlando, we have to draft Crabtree. If it’s the opposite, we have to draft OT. If we keep both, Curry becomes an option. Is it risky to take Crabtree that high? Sure. But without him (and especially if Holt bolts), we don’t have a #1-type WR. Avery is a speed threat and Burton is a possession guy who has a TON of progress to make. Are there veteran WRs we could sign that would be less expensive and fill the need? Sure. But how long would an Ike Hilliard last? Hell, how long does Torry have in him? By the end of next offseason, we need to add another legit WR to fill out our aerial targets.
And thanks for the praise!

I'm no expert
but I have always thought Roy Williams (the DB) was a little overrated based on the fact that he played for Dallas.

both, but he was typecast as something he wasn't
People thought he was a star safety; he’s not. He’s a hard-hitting run stopper who is easily burned on fly routes. Sure, the Dallas bias pushed the media (read: ESPN) to suggest he was a Pro-Bowl safety. He never will be unless you can constantly give him extra pass cover.

With our salary cap I think we could probably get one A list FA and thats about it…….we can probably sign a couple of B or C list FA too…….I cant believe teams like the Eagles have 60 mil in cap space and the Bucs have 48 mil(or maybe its the other way around)…….also, how the heck can the Redskins be in the running for Haynesworth with only 8 mil in cap space?………..as far as Crabtree or Crabs as I like to call him, watch this guys tape(or youtube) from college and you’ll see what the hype is

Does anyone seen Shaun Rodgers as a possibility?
He wants to be traded and he’s a pretty dam good DT if you ask me.
I have witnessed time and time again.

Do not want
Seriously, not even a Rams fan, but I’ve seen Roy play too many times. You do not want him on your team.
