Raji of Boston College could provide the bulk and the attitude that the Rams need to stop the run. It would be a mistake to overlook him in any discussion of possible Rams picks in the first round.
from Jim Thomas from the Post-Dispatch in his chat today. Frankly, I'm a little surprised that Raji hasn't shown up more in the mock drafts for the Rams. That would give the Rams an impressive defensive front with youngsters Long, Carriker and Raji playing alongside Leonard Little for a dangerous pass rush.

Raji of Boston College

Dangerous to whom? Little and Carriker have helped win 5 out of 32 games the last two seasons. Long was there for the 2-14 record in 2008. I’m afraid Little is too old and neither Carriker nor Long will live up to their 1st round draft status. Poor drafting has been a problem with STL for years. A single extra sack or a crucial stop on 3rd down would’ve won 3-4 more games for the Rams last season.

Be Patient
You gotta give Long/Carriker at least 3 years before you can call them a bust…..it takes time my friend!

Trouble on the line
most of the Rams problems with the D-line were the result of not having physical presence in the middle; no true NT to draw double team blockers, no MLB to back up against the run, no SS to put in the box.

Don't forget Carriker's lack of health
He played injured pretty much the entire season. He comes into 2009 healthy; this is the year to evaluate him as a player and whether or not he’s worth another contract.
Jay Zygmunt, now that you have fired yourself, please have yourself hired by Seattle. Thanks.

D-Line and Defense
Little is outta time – too old. Glover is too. And, probably James Hall, who led the team in sacks last year. Carriker will be starting his 3rd year – that should be enough time to tell if he’s a bust or not. Chris Long @ 260+ lbs is simply too little to play DE against 330 lb O-Lineman. He’s got to transition to OLB. Witherspoon is currently the only linebacker worth his salt. The rest need to be jettisoned. When it all boils down, the Rams defense has Long, Witherspoon, Bartell, Atogwe and maybe Carriker, as credible players. The remaining slots would be just as well served filled by rookies or free agents.
