Singletary: "Strong possibility" Isaac Bruce will play on Sunday

Hey folks, this is Fooch from Niners Nation.  Normally I'd open up a FanPost to answer any and all questions for the upcoming game.  Feel free to ask any questions you want here, but it will be more of my compadres answering than me.  I'm down in Las Vegas visiting my brother and have relatively limited Internet access.  And if you don't feel like asking questions, no problem.

I wanted to post this primarily to let you know that there is a very good chance Isaac Bruce will be playing in what would likely be his final game this Sunday at St. Louis.  He's been inactive the last 5 weeks (initially injuries, but basically just letting the young receivers Crabtree and Morgan play).  He was going to sit this week, but several players, including the young receivers, went to Singletary asking him to play Bruce this weekend given the significance of the game for him.  In his traditional Wednesday post-practice media session, Singletary said there was a "strong possibility" he'd be playing.

Also, if you're interested, Bruce spoke to the media earlier today and I snagged a transcript.  Try not to cringe at the site of him in red and gold.  As much as I have disliked the Rams in the past, Isaac Bruce always had the utmost respect of 49ers fans.  Hopefully he can go out with a bang on Sunday.

I'd really like to see the Rams

sign Bruce in the offseason only to have him announce his retirement as a Ram.

Though, I’m not positive about if that works in the NFL like it does in some other sports (with the cap…..and if there’s a cap….and all).

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

It should

work the same way in the NFL. I believe Emmitt Smith did that to retire a Cowboy.

THIS year's the year. I hope....

I hope the first time the 49s have the ball

they immediately throw a pass to Bruce so the St. Louis fans can give him one last Bruuuuuce to honor all he did while he was here. It would be great to see the Rams sign him just so he can then retire as a Ram. If he wants it, I would think they would and should honor that request.

If Bruce even takes one snap next preseason

for the Rams and then calls it quits, I’ll be happy with that.

I hope that Isaac finds a way to come back to the Lou. He was a great WR on the team for the 14 (?) years he was here. I think the Rams should also do the same with Torry Holt when he calls it a career.

I don't care about Torry

He went out like a bitch IMO. Bruce was classy from day one.

I was glad to see Bruce got in for the first play today.

The fans all cheered, and his teammates all congratulated him when he came off. Now if he would just sign with the Rams during the off season and announce his retirement as a Ram, it would be perfect.

We met him once at a signing event that happened to fall on his birthday.

He was very nice, and seemed genuinely pleased when we wished him happy birthday. He was the first great Ram to come to St. Louis and should be a lock for the Hall of Fame.
