Howdy! The name's Jordann from Battle Red Blog.
*waves like a retard*
Since it's been a slow day at work, I decided to start the unofficial Q&A for the week. The official Q&A should arrive later during the day but I wanted to get the ball rolling.
As you already know, Your St Louis Rams are facing my beloved Houston Texans this coming Sunday. So if there's anything you wanna know about the Texans, feel free to ask.

unrelated to the game
i’m usually very optomistic, every year i start the, This is the year, talk, and every week I’ll proudly wear the colors and cheer my Rams till the end. but i think we’re in a bad place right now, concidering our IR list.
what i want to know, being from Fresno and being a hugh Fresno State Bulldog Fan. Do you think David Carr has a chance to start in the NFL again? i mean he got beat up behind a porous OL in Texas, but he has good fundementals and a strong arm. given time to lick his wounds and forget about the pounding, what do you think his potential could be?

David Carr sucks
Schaub came in with pretty much the same O-line and had half the sacks that Zoolander gave up. This is because Schaub doesn’t crumple into the fetal position the minute an opponent crosses the line of scrimmage.
Put it this way. If Carr is starting for your team, something is either about to go horribly wrong or it already has.

Jus say no.
When it comes to David Carr, i’ve learned the hard way that the answer should always be no. When the 2002 season started, I was pretty optimistic too. Although I wanted the Texans to start building a great defense first(drafting Julius Pepper), I warmed up to the idea of choosing Carr to be our 1st draft pick. I’ve seen him play a couple of times during his senior year and read a lot of good reviews about him. What could go wrong right? We were able to acquire a pro bowl LT thru the expansion draft and it’s looking like our offensive line would be halfway decent. Turns out it wasn’t even close.
Boselli never started a game for us and the O-line couldn’t hold the pocket for more than two seconds. The result, 76 sacks. An NFL single season record. I would like to say that Carr made the most out of that season with what he had. No reliable running game, a bunch of no name receivers and a porous O-line. I couldn’t blame the guy you know?
Fast forward to the 06 season. New coach. New Scheme. New Defense. New look offense. A pro bowl caliber receiver and a barely serviceable run game. But all we saw was the same David Carr. With an offense to actually work with, the results were still the same. He held on to the ball too long. Poor decisions. Breaking out of the pocket instead of going through his progressions. And tons of checkdowns to RB’s. I had enough, and so did the team. Carr was released that off-season and picked up by Carolina. People started talking about how a fresh start with a new team can be good for Carr.
Bullsh*t.
When Delhomme went down during the 07 season, “experts” started saying that this is Carr’s time to shine. The starting job is all his for the taking. Not. Captain Hairspray couldn’t even beat out Vinny Testaverde. Vinny freaking Testaverde. How old is that guy? Like 70? And when he was given some playing time, he did nothing but assume the fetal position.
Maybe im biased because I had to suffer and had gone through the “David Carr Experience”. But IMHO, I don’t think David Carr will be given and should be given another chance to start in the NFL. Teams shouldn’t even be relying on him as a back up QB(im looking at you NY GIANTS). The guy is really that bad. If he was drafted by another team that had an established O-line, could he have done better? Maybe. Or maybe he’s just as bad as Ryan Leaf.
And before I end my rant, I would just like to remind you.
Say no to David “Mr. Mittens/Captain Hairspray” Carr.

Oh come one comparing him to Ryan Leaf is just mean. Thats really all I can say to defend Carr.

damn,
say it like you mean it. LOL. I don’t tune in to a bunch of the Texans games and knew Carr took the beating that he did but didn’t know he actually got to play behind a good OLine and failed with that too. i guess i’ll have to scratch him from my qb’s to keep an eye on list.

Not to put you on the spot, but following the same line of questioning
Who would you rather have as backup QB, David Carr or Rex Grossman?
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
by Rip Jersey on Dec 18, 2009 10:50 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
If Rex Grossman had David Carr's hair
and his affinity for neon colored mittens, then definitely Mr Grossman.

What Jordann said
The team evolved, Carr didn’t.
Plus, Carr definitely had a reputation of neither being a team guy nor putting in the necessary work. Nor really caring about football in general.
A Texans fan. Really. No, I'm not kidding.

When did you guys realize Bulger wasn’t the guy? Was he just great in Martz’s system or his he been systematically destroyed by your O-line? Other?
by nolander on Dec 16, 2009 3:14 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I actually like Bulger
and the only reason he’s out now is because of the tibia plateau fracture he suffered against the cards three weeks ago. he was a good qb with the right OLine and the right WRs, which is a combination that he’s been without for quite some time, and yeah, his bones have been ground into mush. that leaves us with Boller, who’s hurt and not very good to begin with and the rookie Null. Null started for us last week against a good titans defense. he kept his head in the game and showed some good composure. i hoping to see this kid play for the remainder of the season.
But here at Turf Show Times the fans are all over the place on the QB topic.

How is your O-line now? Still banged up? I’m generally a fan of building an O-line before drafting a young qb, so if its still not there I would hate to see them bring someone in and have them get the crap beat out of them.

our OL
was playing pretty solid for awhile but at this point yeah we’re depleted. The Rams released our starting RG, Incognito, due to him being to much of a meathead and added our starting LG, Bell, to IR. Our first round pick and starting RT has been out w/ a concussion for the past few weeks and we don’t know when or if we’ll be seeing him the rest of the season. Our Center, Brown, didn’t practice because of illness but he is a stud and should be on the field Sunday and our starting LT, Barron, who at times show signs of greatness, usually lacks passion for the game and can’t figure out the snap count. On a good note, the back-ups, LG Settersrom, RG Greco and RT Goldgerg can all play and should do a good job of keeping our QB on his feet.
I’m hoping to see some continuity out of our OL next yr. I think they’ll be able to do the job their paid to do.

Not everyone is sold on Bulger being dead.
The guy was simply too good when he had a good cast. Our O-Line looks like it’s shoring up, but his best receiver was on OR after 3 games(Laurent Robinson), his second best receiver is a speedster with iffy hands and injury issues throughout the year. He’s a 2nd year player as well (Donnie Avery), and his other second year wideout that seemed to be picking up is also on IR (Keenan Burton). In his first game, rookie Brandon Gibson looked like a star and I’m interested in seeing Bulger develop with him, if they get a chance to work again.
Not all of us are convinced that he’s done as a Ram, especially if they restructure his contract. With good health for him, as well as his receivers, I see our passing game getting considerably better to help Steven Jackson and the run game.
If he is done, I see him reviving his career around a team with a good receiver cast.
By the way, could I trade you my soul for Andre Johnson? Please?

Soul For 'Dre
We respectfully decline your generous offer.
It would take at least 1,296 souls, and three first round draft picks, for us to even consider the deal.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

I think it would take 2 full drafts worth of picks for me to give him up.

The Texans are a mystery team to me...
Maybe because you are the league’s newest team, and we have only played you a couple of times, I don’t have a good feel for you guys. Houston used to be absolutely rabid for the Oilers. Have the Texans generated the same enthusiasm?
by tbell61 on Dec 16, 2009 4:22 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Last time we played the Rams.
We lost. To Ryan Fitzpatrick on overtime. SMH
Anyways, as for the fanbase. It’s quietly growing. We have a lot of badnwagon fans that jumps in when we start winning games and calls for the coaches head when we start losing. Im pretty sure that yall are familiar with that. The city rejoiced when it was announced that we’ve been awarded with the 32nd NFL franchise. We have plenty of die-hard fans too that are going to support the team through thick and thin. It’s not “Luv ya Blue” enthusiasm yet, but we’re getting there.

I guess this fanpost can go both ways.
How’s Donnie Avery doing? I watch a lot of Coogs football and whenever I would see Donnie Avery making a reception, I would say to myself that this is one of the guys in this team that will make a name for themselves in the NFL.
I know he had a good rookie season, but do you think that’s it? Which receiver would you compare him with?
