If you made a list of all the receivers in NFL history that have been targeted 15 or more times in one game, Brandon Gibson is almost undoubtedly the worst player on that list, and not by a tiny margin. Gibson was being covered by Mike Adams for most of the second half, which is why he was getting so many passes. His particular low point was dropping a pass in the end zone that would have given St. Louis a chance to tie the game on a two-point conversion. It was not his only drop on the day.
Five catches on 17 throws means everybody loses, the receiver, the quarterback, fans, coaches, etc. It appears the excitement about Gibson after the Saints game may have been just a bit premature.

He's young
Similar to not judging on 1 game, we really can’t judge on 2. Not to mention of those 5, there were some sweet catches..

Gibson...
was pretty unspectacular. On top of the dropped balls, he seemingly wanted a flag to be thrown after each ball that went his way. I know he’s a rookie, but there IS such a thing as good coverage. Him flapping his arms around and crying isn’t going to do much in the way of making a flag magically jump out of the ref’s pocket.
Any idiot would know that.

On a side note, I really miss Laurent Robinson.

The only thing that annoys me about Gibson is the imaginary flag throwing.
He does it every time he doesn’t catch the ball. Hopefully someone sits him down and explains to him he’s not quite where Torry Holt thinks he is.

That bugged me too
I think he lost his head a little bit, especially as the game got to crunch time. As a team becomes so reliant on young players, this is an unfortunate symptom.

Amendola starts
And I think the coaches have that right. Fornow anyway.
I’m pretty sure someone will talk to Gibson about “shut up, play the game, learn what its about on this level.” Spags won’t want someone who habitually looks for excuses after every blown play. I know I wouldn’t.
Gibson has plenty of ability, and in order to progress along and turn potential into production he just needs to focus on him and completely ignore the external stuff. Since this is sort of obvious, I would expect it to happen over the next couple of months.

That analysis contains more snark than fact.
Gibson was being covered by Bryant McFadden for most, if not all, of the first half and was on pace for 14 targets by halftime. All but one of his catches went for a first down, with Gibson getting those on yards after the catch.
Looking at each one of his targets, Gibson had two clear drops, and one pattern that he fell down on, but most of his incompletions were due to poor throws, or poor timing, not the receiver’s talent level.
Saying categorically that Gibson is the “worst” player on such a list, without actually making that list, is just talk. He still ranks as the best receiver on this team and I expect him to significantly outperform Avery and Amendola the rest of the way.

FO has seemed to be really bitchy towards the Rams lately
I believe in 2010

I think it's curious how a site like FO
can confuse “I don’t know who this guy is” with “since I don’t know who this guy is he must suck”.
I gave them more credit than that.

Also on that site: one example, offered as proof
A long list of old axioms, such as “you need to win the turnover battle”, along with a single example of how that axiom didn’t work (such as a team losing the turnover battle but winning anyway).
Anyone who offers one single example and says there’s your proof either doesn’t want to look at the whole picture and is easily fooled.

i will have to agree to a certain extend he seemed ok playin against the saints i guess but when you have plenty oppertunity to catch the ball as he was giving its a dam shame theres no excuses for that 5 catches out of 17 it would be good to see danny get a few catches an avery to be a top reciever an go out there an do his job the way its post to be done
