Rams vs Cardinals, week 11 game thread
Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams, Nov 22, 2009 3:05 PM CST
Kurt Warner is 25-4 at the Ed Jones Dome. The Rams are 0-5 at the Dome this season. We need a home win, and wouldn't this be the perfect way to get it?

I just hope the team doesn't get embarrassed
I’m seeing them on TV for the first time in ages. I’d like to see the Rams compete.
Best moment I've ever seen at a game in person
Looking forward to Cardinals baseball in 2010!
I posted this in the other thread, but I'll throw it in here for good measure...
The Cardinals’ Big Three receiving corps has combined for 50 regular-season 100-yard receiving games (Anquan Boldin 25, Larry Fitzgerald 22, Steve Breaston 3). The Rams’ five receivers have a combined two 100-yard games (Donnie Avery 1, Ruvell Martin 1).
Starting WR
At WR alongside Donnie Avery, the Rams are listing Danny Amendola as the starter ahead of Brandon Gibson.
Don’t read too much into it.
Draft watch
1-loss teams:
TAM: losing to NO, 7-38
CLE: losing to DET, 29-31
DET: leading CLE, 31-29
STL: about to get a W…
2-loss teams:
KC: tied with PIT, 24-24
OAK: about to kick off against CIN
You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.
BTW
replace “loss” with “win” in those subheads.

Game time, baby!
Might miss the beginning; I gotta see if Washington can get a game winning FG against Dallas. Shouldn’t miss much though.

I miss him
Think of how much different we would be if we still had him (Warner)
The 53 as one have become the 53 that won.
Warner has 14 seconds to throw
Dumps off for 6. D-line with a very predictable first play

Big Ben got hurt (bell rung) on a scramble.
They then drove a bit but had to punt. KC took over and got like 15 yards then threw a 7 yard crossing pattern that went for like 60 yards to the PIT 1 yard line. FG on the next play.
had to be embarrassing for Pit fans but the Steelers have lost some head-scratchers this year.

It's not as much "flat"
as it is we’re getting absolutely owned in the trenches. Arizona’s Oline has made both facets of their offenses WAY too easy, and their D-line has kept Steven Jackson (and therefore the entire Rams O) in check.

He’s been piss poor today, and what reasoning do we have to play him? Sure, he’s more accurate than Boller or Null, but Avery doesn’t need accurate passes on his hands, McMichael hasn’t been able to catch much this season, and Brandon Gibson looks like he can catch anything.

Just so all the fans can watch him suck and realize why he hasn’t taken over the #2 spot from Boller
i'd kinda like to see that
at least i’d know where he stands. Even thou bulger probably still gives us the best chance to win (i’m pretty certain Boller is worse) I dunno if we’re just protecting Null or he can’t do anything in practice.
Maybe we should jus put in 10 O linemen and jus get the ball to jackson, rugby style.
This "sellout" crowd –- actually about 75 percent capacity –- is booing Rams QB Marc Bulger. Against the 30th-ranked pass defense in the league, he's thrown for 47 yards at the two-minute warning of the first half.
Sad state of affairs.
I'm pretty sure they're booing the entire team...
…I mean, I don’t know how responsible Bulger is for S-Jax getting stuffed or the penalties that have killed drives before they started.

What?
Since when does putting in the 3rd string disqualify the other 2 QBs?
by Ghostrider520 on Nov 22, 2009 4:35 PM CST up reply actions
The rule states that if a third quarterback is inserted before the fourth quarter, a team's first two quarterbacks cannot be used in the game at any position.
Here's something else
The emergency (third) quarterback may now enter the game in just the fourth quarter, regardless if the other two quarterbacks are able to play. This means that if the third string quarterback enters the game, the first and/or second quarterback may re-enter, unlike the past two seasons where the emergency quarterback would only play off the first two were unable to resume play.
The 53 as one have become the 53 that won.
right
but you guys were talking about bringing Null in to start the second half, which is why i brought up this rule.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d809f6279&template=with-video&confirm=true
NFL’S “third-quarterback” rule — sometimes misunderstood:
Seventeen years ago (1991) the third-quarterback rule was instituted to enable teams to have an emergency quarterback available who was not on the 45-man game-day active roster, since many teams, for strategic purposes, only carried two quarterbacks on their game-day roster.
Everybody thinks they understand the NFL’s “third-quarterback” rule. But do they?
The rule states that if a third quarterback is inserted before the fourth quarter, a team’s first two quarterbacks cannot be used in the game at any position.
Another aspect of the rule is sometimes misunderstood. It is a coach’s decision as to whether a third quarterback will be used.
The active quarterbacks do not have to be injured for a team to use its third quarterback.
So it depends on whether Null is listed as active on the gameday roster or not.
by Ghostrider520 on Nov 22, 2009 4:39 PM CST up reply actions
Depends in this case.
I’m not sure who are active 45 are. Since Ah You and Burton went on IR, I’m not sure who we would’ve activated.
by Ghostrider520 on Nov 22, 2009 4:41 PM CST up reply actions
under no situation would your #3 QB not be inactive
he’s there for emergency purposes only
he’s allowed to come in without taking up a spot on the 45 man roster, so why would you put him on your 45 when you dont have to, unless he was like Michael Vick and you wanted to use him periodically in the game
If they don't have anyone else that they want to activate, they might have activated him.
I understand what you’re saying, but what I am saying is that I don’t know that the Rams had 45 players this week that they wanted to activate.
by Ghostrider520 on Nov 22, 2009 4:44 PM CST up reply actions
if the rams keep losing and get high draft picks won't we be cash strapped and can't sign quality free agents?
not that many
high draft picks don’t chew up that much salary because there’s only a couple that really make huge money, and there may not even be a salary cap after next year.
I hate the way this board keeps bumping down as people post, so I lose track of my little text box. Wish I could turn it off for a sec.

What crap....
Our team is getting owned on both sides of the ball and all we can manage to do is hurt Kurt Warner. :-(
:(
Poor offense…we’ve had crappy field position besides the early fumble/Amendola return.

3,422 by mine (factor in emotional yardage)
You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

Especially with the lines
Both lines have woken up. Is it a stamina issue on the part of the Cards? Motivation for the Rams?

I don't think Bulger has been sacked in the second half.
Maybe I’m wrong through.

1 minute no timeouts
Stay away from the 4 yard over the middle passes
for some reason I feel Bulger needs to be told this
The 53 as one have become the 53 that won.
he's busy being old.

Damn
So close, better concentration by Gibson or a little longer throw by Bulger and this game is in OT
The 53 as one have become the 53 that won.
Still would've needed the conversion though.

10 yards with 4 minutes and 3 timeouts isn't though
I blame it on Shurmur. He ran the same play twice in a row.

Exactly...
…damn the Gibson drop hurts bad, but I can’t knock him because he was big today.

time to start drinking my sorrow away
peace out everyone-be good
"SJAX" - The extra strength cleaner that fights off that Stubborn, Stingy Defense
So going for the FG there was a bad choice
We could’ve definitely gotten a FG there
The 53 as one have become the 53 that won.
Pujols is consoling Action Jackson, that was a hot beast on beast hug

Or maybe the O-Line/S-Jax didn't show up in the first...

Good game Rams fans.
It was a lot more stressful than we would have liked in the Second Half, but you guys are getting better.
Hopefully Warner gets better soon.
Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Chicago Bears fan.
No band-wagoner fans allowed, pick a team and stick with em, throughout the good and the bad.
I sure hope Kurt and Bulger are both OK.
The Cards need Kurt to get back to the SB and we need Bulger in top condition to beat Sheattle next week.
I'll close with reiterating how much I hate FG's
Scoring FG’s typically loses ball games. That was the difference in being tied and losing to New Orleans last week. No way a team with an SJax should have to settle for so many FG’s in the RZ.
