Drafting Tebow?
I had an interesting thought concerning Tim Tebow. What if we draft Tebow to actually use him as a QB? Wait, wait, before you start throwing your mouse at me just chew on this idea. Tebow, I would think, is not another Brees or Manning. What if, however, Spags changed the way the Rams play offense from what we've been known for, throw down the field and pass like mad, to more of a power offense? It's not like we can get any worse!
Even in my own mind this is somewhat far-fetched, but look at it like this. Tebow can throw the ball. He has a good completion %, very nice YPA, and of course he can run very effectively. He has some good size on his frame (6' 3" 245 lbs), a very sharp head on his shoulders (Academic All-American), and he has that moxie that Cowherd always loves. I would think that he might bring that spark back to the team that we've been missing for quite some time. He would allow us to open up the playbook a bit, and I think he would enter the league humble, but with a BIG chip on his shoulder. He'll be out to prove that he can play QB in the bigs.
I'm still hoping we get Bradford, but I just thought I'd throw this out for debate.
Your thoughts?

if we draft bradford he would get beat up like bulger. But tebow reminds me of big ben. he strong and can break off tacklers and when the pocket collaspes he bounces out. honestly in the sitution the rams are in i think tebow would be better than bradford
It's about the big picture!
If you are referring to only next year and maybe the following then….good point. I however would like a QB for the next decade. Although I do not want it to be Bradford. Talk about someone relishing an opportunity with an amazing surrounding cast. Last year Bradford had the most amazing O-line in college. Two all-americans and 3 seniors. He would not be my pick although he is a very good QB. Tebow is a winner and a tough SOB, but he just doesn’t have that “it” for the NFL. That strength of him running the ball, not a good idea in the NFL, he won’t last very long. I’d rather have Ryan Mallet!
My thoughts exactly
I think Bradford has the better skill set, but you make a great comparison with Tebow and Big Ben.
You don't draft a certain QB because you have a shitty line
and the best thing he has going for him is he has the size to take a beating.
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.
Other than Tim Tebow?
Anyone. Absolutely anyone.
But if I had to pick a QB right now it’d probably be Jimmy Clausen.

I wouldn't mind Tebow but..
I say draft a Bradford or McCoy and then the tall playmaking WR or Fat DL if they don’t get one from FA
Touchdown St.Louis Rams Won the SuperBowl
I'll take him in the second, but
not a chance I would take him in the first.
S-St. Louis, R-Rams, D-Dallas, M-Mavericks, A-Arizona, D-Diamondbacks.
Not one QB worth
taking in the first IMO. I have seen too many busts… [Ryan Leaf, Alex Smith, Joey Harrington, Matt Lienhart, JeMarcus Russell…] Too much money and too much risk involved. Heck I’d like to see what Null can do at some point this season. Maybe we have a diamond and don’t even know it.
IMO we need to continue to build our lines. This year OL, next year DL. Ndamukong Suh could be a good choice IMO. Still, too early to really say who could make a good choice as lots of college football left. Anything can happen.

I keep hearing
worrisome things about McCoy. They say he isn’t that good or accurate on passes beyond 20 yards. Plus he has only played in a spread offense.
Many of the top QBs this year are not seniors, so it’s also hard to know who will come out and who won’t. Bradford and Clausen, for instance, might stay in school for another year.
lets get...
casey keenum that boy has an arm plus we could probably pick him up later in the draft and use our first round pick on dez bryant or someone… i wouldnt mind us going after a wide reciever thats 6’5" + i think louisville has one thats like 6’8" how awesome would that be against a 6’0" cornerback….
I'd take a piece of that action
After Bradfords injury? No one whos projected in the first round will stay in school.
Plus,
Clausen will be losing like his entire surrounding cast due to either graduation or the draft. I highly doubt he’ll stick around ND for another year.

Bradford
I can’t remember how the cap plays out this upcoming year, but I think Bradford will come out this year. I think a lot of players may come out in ‘10 that would have normally gone out in ’11 simply due to the money they’ll be getting this year.
I’m sure there are agents telling their players that staying in longer could do serious damage to their wallet if the league proceeds with putting a cap on rookie salary. Why wouldn’t you leave early and know you’ll for sure be getting paid, rather than waiting another year and seeing what kind of cap the league imposes?
I hear talk of a potenial holdout
in 2011 too… I believe you’ll see a lot declare themselves

Just
DO IT! We have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Want a traditional QB? We’ve got a few on our roster. Tebow is smart enough to make the leap. If we don’t grab him up, it’ll be another one of those picks we “could have had.” HHHHMMMMM, anyone ever heard of Flacco? Sanchez? Just saying that this team has played to need so much in its recent history and not taken gambles. All we have out of it is SJ and Lauranitis. And its been how many years since the greatest show closed down?
They will notice and they will giggle.
I like this guy!
Great post papa!
You know, since I wrote this Fan Post on Tebow I’ve been thinking more and more on him and the Rams. I keep coming back to the thought of “What do we have to lose?!” You’re right by your statement concerning the traditional QB. We have plenty of them, why not mix it up a bit.
I would be shocked to see Tebow go in the 1st round, shocked! I think if we plan on going with him, then in the first round we go after BAT (Best Available Talent), and then go Tebow in the second. ‘Cuz Papa you’re absolutely right. We’ve filled need time and again, and look where that got us. I would probably err on the side of taking BAT for offense just to surround Tebow with all the weapons we can.
I would think we could probably trade down in the draft a few spots, not many, and still be able to grab a top flight WR or OL. There will be a team that wants to come up and draft higher (Raiders). We pick up some more picks in the process, God knows we them, and let Coach Spags get started on building his own team.

What do we have to lose?
Another wasted first round pick and about 70 Million dollars…..

Not to mention
four more years of not winning if he doesn’t pan out.
THIS year's the year. I hope....
BAT doesn't really apply to QBs.
If you need a QB you’ll draft one, if you don’t then you won’t.
SHURMUR NEEDS TO GO
Yea just because we suck
Doesn’t mean we have to waste our draft picks with someone who is most famously known as a risk at QB in the NFL or a fullback in the NFL.
SHURMUR NEEDS TO GO
We need picks ot count now more than ever
We have the future to lose. We have expectations of enjoying our share of parity to lose.
Drafting crappy is a big reason why we are where we are. We risk a dynasty of futility with a mentality of “we have nothing to lose”.

Not disagreeing, but
my thought in making this post was 100% about our future and upon which path we will follow there. I still feel that Bradford is the way we need to go.
On the other hand, however, is it time that we change the way our offense operates? As I mentioned in an above post, do we go with more of a power offense? I think that this team, with our new, very capable head coach, is at a point where we evaluate what our team’s identity is and will be.
I figured by throwing out the idea of drafting Tebow it would bring about some good conjecture, and it certainly has!
Its a different game up here
Ask Steve Spurrier, 12-20 in two seasons with the Redskins.
It’s just a different game.

Another team wants to draft Tebow besides the Jags?
Please, just to stop the madness in Jacksonville
