Quarterback controversy
All this may be rendered irrelevant depending on Kyle Boller's status in the wake of his 4th quarter injury, but the St. Louis Rams have a decision to make at starting QB.
Given the availability of Boller and Bulger for the Rams next game against a vulnerable Jacksonville, do they start Marc Bulger or Kyle Boller? Not that either option is a huge difference maker. Boller moved the ball, and the Rams took advantage of his abilities with some nice rollout passes. Bulger was statistically perfect and got his second TD pass of the season...against the Vikings second teamers.
So let's throw it open for discussion, who would you like to see starting under center next week?

this shouldn't even be a discussion

So the two failed drives
by Boller against Minnesota don’t warrant discussion IYO?

Not really.
Bulger is the better QB and the team has a lot more to gain if they can revive his career as opposed to Boller’s. Much higher ceiling with Bulger.
Then, if Bulger fails, so what. You know they’re already making plans to draft a QB next year. If Bulger ends up having a good year you might stick with him for another year while the new QB develops or you might (strong emphasis on “might”) have created enough of an interest in Bulger you could possibly trade him for a mid-to-low draft pick (you aren’t going to get anything above a 4th rounder probably but a pick..any pick…is better than releasing him).

bulger is the starter....
after painfully watching kyle boller flat out drop the football….0 interceptions for bulger and we need that kind of ball security

Bulger did the exact same thing as Boller did (drop the football)
on the play where he hurt his shoulder.

DOES IT REALLY MATTER.
Right now there are maybe two or three players
on this team worthy of being called “starters”.
And I don’t believe their names are Bulger or Boller.
I would love to be able to give these guys the benefit
of the doubt but Bulger has “happy feet” (which he
acquired about 2 or 3 years ago) and Boller is 2nd rate.
I understand why we picked Smith 2nd overall. But
tell me that Sanchez isn’t looking like “shoulda, woulda, coulda”.

Not IMO
Sanchez is reaping the benefit of having a solid O-line in front of him, even though they have not played to their full potential. How many pro-bowl lineman do the Rams have right now? Add that to a decent (dynamic) running attack, and the addition of Edwards and you can see why the QB is having/will have success (its all relative because he does not compare to what Matt Ryan looked like in his first year). If you put Sanchez in the Rams offense, you would demoralize the kids confidence and watch him dissolve under a big contract.
I would have only liked to see Sanchez drafted if we were going to leverage him with the Jets for more picks (i.e. Chargers-Eli Manning situation).

First of all…(hypothetically), Sanchez would sit out his first year while we allow Bulger to play out his OVERPAID contract.
Secondly…I believe the Chargers recieved Philip Rivers in that deal. We would have never even come close to that.

So, instead of having a draft pick on the roster now
who is developing with his teammates, we should have sat our 1st round pick on the bench for a year? What’s the point of that? This team had a thousand holes to fill and drafting a guy and not planning to use him for a year is a waste. It’s not like Sanchez is the greatest QB ever and it’s not like there are just as talented (probably even more talented) in the 2010 draft so why waste the pick?
You can draft Mark Sanchez every year.

Bulger
But it’s nice to know Boller can come in with a seamless crapability.

THIS JUST IN
According to Meril Hodge, we are NOT the worst team in the NFL. We’re just the second worst. He said the Raiders are. The main reason was coaching.

And since I put all of my stock into what Merrill Hoge thinks.......
Why do we care what Merrill Hoge thinks?

I'd agree with the assessment though
and not just because of coaching. have you seen who they drafted to play QB? Russell is worse than anyone the Rams have drafted in…maybe ever.

Oh...my bad.
for some reason I originally read that as that it was the Rams coaching that is the reason they’re 31st. I thought it was a shot at our coaches, when it was a shot at the Raiders coaches.
But thats not even fair. Isn’t it the Raiders coach who had to be suspended for attacking one of his assistants? And he’s the same guy who ran off Rob Ryan because he knew Ryan was the guy the fans wanted as HC?
That organization is a mess.

Yea
I was just pointing out that a so called football “expert” agrees with us that we are not the worst. Someone in Oakland needs to figure out a way to get Al Davis out of there.

Bulger should start
especially if he can repeat his 7 for 7 88 yard TD drive. At that rate he’d go at least 24/24 352 yards and 4 TDs. I’d take that

Russell
At least we don’t have J. Russell as our QB…You couldn’t trade him for a bag of footballs. The bottom line is the Rams suck this year. I’m usually optimistic but this team has been outscored 146 to 34. That is downright nasty and the worst ratio in the league!

The Browns won a game in which they completed two passes for the entire game?
Thats not even fair. If we do that, we lose by 30 easily.

Agree with carneros. And the Jags’ D is something left to be desired. They may be about as good as the Vikings’ 2nd stringers. I think we can win this next game by a couple of TDs as long as our offense holds onto the ball.

Bulger now, but
If it comes down to needing a back up to play again, I’d have to try Null. I have to start Bulger, I think he’s clearly, clearly the better QB but if we get into a situation where the season is half over and Bulger is hurt and can’t play, then I have to ask why not give Null some experience and see if he’s closer to a Ryan, a Stafford, a Sanchez, a Flacco….or a Russell.
But I wouldn’t sit the best able bodied QB we have until he’s not able bodied anymore.
