[Andre Smith]'s not as polished as [Jake] Long was coming out of Michigan, but Smith possesses better overall physical tools. It's no secret the Rams wanted Long badly last year so it's safe to assume Smith will be high on their wish list a few months from now.

From Todd McShay's first mock draft of 2009 over at ESPN which has the Rams picking Alabama OT Andre Smith at #2.

In case you were wondering

how my mock draft and McShay’s match up, here’s a recap of the first 11 picks from mine and where McShay had them:

1.) Detroit – Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma (McShay = 1)
2.) St. Louis – Andre Smith, OT, Alabama (2)
3.) Kansas City – Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech (10, 49ers)
4.) Seattle – Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia (3)
5.) Cleveland – Aaron Curry, OLB/DE, Wake Forest (4)
6.) Cincinatti – Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri (19, Tampa)
7.) Oakland – Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio St. (5)
8.) Jacksonville – Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia (7)
9.) Green Bay – Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn St. (6)
10.) San Francisco – Everette Brown, DE, Florida St. (N/A)
11.) Buffalo – Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma (11)

McShay had Jason Smith (OT, Baylor) going 8th to Jax and Oklahoma’s DT going to Green Bay at 9. I was surprised that he had the whole first round skipping on Everette Brown. Alex Mack in the 2nd? Starting to look like a possibility.

His stock has dropped heavily the last month

He may not even come off the board until the 2nd round with people looking at the Smiths and Eugene Monroe ahead of him

I don't see how that's possible

after the WR’s they’ve taken (Calvin Johnson, Roy Williams, Charles Rogers, Mike Williams), with this team (rhetorically) committed to moving the franchise in a new direction, like the Rams, they would find it impossible to explain Crabtree to the media and their fan base

If Millen were still there,

I could have seen him taking Crabtree…which explains why he’s no longer there!!!
