Trent Green vs. Bulger
Can someone please tell me how Trent Green gives us a better chance to win than Marc Bulger? Scott Linehan just sealed his own fate with this move and I am looking forward to moving ahead with a new coach. This team has been underachieving for years and but this year has been the worst by far. Giving up 18 points in the 4th quarter of a tight game is unexcusable especially at home. Hopefully this move will be made quick. I did take a few positives out of today's game for a change. The OL played very well and Steven Jackson finally looks ready to run. Missing training camp definitely hurt him and now he seems to be at full strength. I think we have a player in Avery and the D looked a little better today. We can't lose next week (bye) and hopefully we'll get off the schnide the following week. Go Rams!

I don't think it was ever about winning, actually
I’m coming around on my original theory on the decision to sit bulger/ start green. I thought it was to rekindle the relationship between green and saunders, but watching parts of the first half today, I think it was much more about trying to artificially create a sense of ‘urgency’ in the clubhouse. there were a lot of moves made this week to shake up the clubhouse, but only half of them were what could be called ‘football moves.’ the rest are more ‘motivational moves,’ i think.
motivational moves, knocking down a prominent veteran in order to put the fear of losing in the back of everyone’s mind:
- sitting bulger for green
- cutting fakhir brown after only one game
football moves:
- start avery, sit hall
- start ryan, sit glover (though this might be another example of knocking down a vet to wake up a squad)
- start adeyanju, sit hall
- start draft, sit culbertson
perhaps the most astounding football move was feeding jackson as many touches as we did, even after his public tirade. credit linehan or saunders for not being petty and removing the only credible shot we had at actually winning the game.
so, if linehan is gone, his ‘message’ move goes with him. i’d expect bulger back.

I'm a Chiefs fan
And I just want to say that I love Trent Green, he meant everything to KC fans for the 5 or so years he was here. He was a great QB back then but now he’s getting old. If he has a really good offensive line then he can be dangerous, but otherwise I’d say you’re better off keeping him as a veteran backup.
Dante Hall used to be a great player too… used to… glad we traded him away while he was still worth something.

What good is a backup if you can't play him?
I agree that Green is not suited to be a long-term starter in the NFL. His health concerns are, well…..concerning. But if he’s the number 2 quarterback, then he has to be able to play. Can’t keep a guy only as a backup. If that’s the case, then he needs to be a coach.
Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me......with nothin'.
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
