Bulger Benched

Looks like Trent Green will start on Sunday against the Bills. This is a HUGE desperation move. And I doubt is going to work.
Bulger has been part of the problem, but not enough to bench him. I don't know about Trent behind our struggling offensive line. This will at least ease the pain for all the Bulger-haters out there.

This is sooooo sad
I don’t know what else to say.
More aging players getting playing time? Ughhh.
Maybe Bulger will get better with this lesson?

i doubt it
but, he’s shell shocked and could use some time getting his head right. ideally, that would be in the offseason…but we all know that didn’t work out.

I fear for Trent Green's noggin.
Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me......with nothin'.
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

Bulger
At least Bulger will get some rest and stay healthy while Green gets pounded. Maybe he’ll be ready for next year.

the only positive outcome...
Maybe a game spent on the sideline signaling in plays with Al Saunders in his ear, soaking up plays from a different vantage point, will give Bulger a better grasp of the offense.
And maybe the offensive line will pass-protect a little better, knowing their QB’s life is at stake….

No quarterback could do anything with this line.
At least Bulger won’t get hurt.
The offensive machine rolls in Texas.

I was thinking the same thing
It best not be!
Oh and I think the Rams have the best back up QB in all of football now

this smacks of desperation
and a very desperate coach, trying to save his job.

+1
sad thing is that I don’t feel there is anything that can save Linehan’s job at this point…he’s going to be gone, it’s just a question of when…Bulger hasn’t been great, obviously, but he was far down on my list of people to blame for this mess

Lets see what happens when SJ says something along those lines.

That quote was from yesterday
and was possibly made on Sunday since it showed up in the LA Times on Monday. The move to bench Bulger was today, so if anyone is responding to anything it’s Linehan. Then again, the quote couldn’t be anymore without context. He could be talking about the equipment manager’s assistant for all we know (although I highly doubt he is).
Either way, I take the comment as support for Linehan. I think the reported asked something like “Should Linehan be responsible for the poor offense” and Bulger says “He’s not out there playing” meaning he’s not the one screwing up the plays, its the players.

that was the way i read/heard it.
the quote actually ran on sunday evening’s news. he was trying to accept responsibility, not pass it on to the coach.

We all know...
the best part of Trent Green is when he gets hurt.

So is that a ringing endorsement for Brock Berlin?

Mike Sando: This means Saunders will become HC?
From Mike Sando’s NFC West blog on the WWL:
What we know: The Rams have benched quarterback Marc Bulger in favor of Trent Green.
What it means: Offensive coordinator Al Saunders becomes the logical choice to succeed Scott Linehan if owner Chip Rosenbloom follows through on threats to make changes.
More: http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfcwest/0-3-249/Reading-between-lines-on-Bulger-benching.html
This only makes sense if the move to Green is long-term, which I can’t see possible. He’s too old, and too fragile. But this may be a sign that Saunders is being given freer rein to run his timing-intensive offense through Green for a few weeks, and try to tap some potential.

Anyway, here’s the correct-working link right here

I think you forgot to put quotes around the link?

Maybe
It’s just easier to use the thing right next to the picture of a tree (above the text box I’m typing in right now). It looks like a link of chain. Look right below this post at the “POST A COMMENT” thing and you’ll see B I S " chain link, picture of a tree below the “Subject” box.
Makes life easier to use the tools we’re given.
