The more Rosenbloom closely examines this, the more I'm certain he will realize that the men who have been left in charge — John Shaw and Jay Zygmunt — are guilty of so much amateur-hour bungling. Shaw's absentee-management indifference to the day-to-day operations and Zygmunt's unknowledgeable hands-on meddling in the football side of the business were the lethal combination that has conspired to leave so many of these players and coaches in a wretched football hell, forced Scott Linehan into a fate he doesn't deserve and set the franchise back at least five years.
From the Dispatch's Bryan Buwell (here) and why this team is not in a rebuilding phase, which is troubling.

he's right
they aren’t rebuilding.
the rams will have to do a Miami-like start-over after this year.

If you're going to do that, you can't wait until after the end of the year.
The best time to start rebuilding is in the middle of the season. You can get overvalued trades with playoff teams that have huge needs. Someone will need a QB of Bulger’s level and someone will pay HUGE in trade value for Steven Jackson. Truth is, if we’re going into rebuilding, you have to shop off at the trade deadline, and more importantly, you have to gut the front office of the personnel that put you in this position. We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for horrible drafts and a lack of free agent moves by Zygmunt & Co.

unfortunetly
this is not the MLB, and blockbuster in season trades don’t happen. Additionally, blockbuster trades hardly ever happen in the offseason.
I would also argue that the Bulger’s contract makes him near impossible to trade.
in my mind rebuilding would be re-building around the assets we do have – Jackson, Holt, Bulger, Long, Witherspoon, Carriker – not trading away the few good players we have.

It's not a bad idea
But I’d keep Jackson, Long, and Carriker. Bulger is probably untradable – though they should keep a line open with Tampa and Minnesota if anything happens to their stand-ins.
But we should seriously consider trading Torry Holt today, while he still has a perception of value. I think he’s seriously lost a step or two, and just isn’t getting separation in open space except on those quick slants. But the league — Carolina in particular — might still see him as a premier player trapped in a terrible system.
He’s too old to rebuild around, but still young enough to have value. If he could be moved for a relatively high draft pick, we should do it today.

Trading deadline = Oct. 14
Time enough to start regime change, and entertain offers for trading players.

was there even a press conference yesterday?
can’t see it in the usual spot..
Last time we heard from SL, he was “Scared to death to lose”..
I want to know the follow up to that.. I’m guessing he’s just not scared any more.
