Jackson
After seeing the Rams get pounded in the preseason opener against the Titans it's clear to me that the Rams are missing more than a few things.
First off w/out Steven Jackson the Rams are guarenteed last place in the lowly West. I'm a Rutgers grad here and a big Brian Leonard fan but he's not a #1 running back. The Rams need to get this deal done and as soon as possible because Jackson is about the only bright spot the Rams have this year. The O-Line can hopefully turn it around and give Marc some protection and I'm anticipating some good things from our rookie WR's. Bennett is shaky to me but hopefully he can be a nice suprise this year. The run defense was miserable last season and the opener was a joke. Everyone knows the Titans can't throw the ball and they still ran all over us. Our LB's need to step it up against the run this season.
We definitely have a shot at winning the division but things can go downhill quickly once the season starts. Hopefully Jackson will be back soon and our young talent can step up and make some plays. Let me know your thoughts!

we're screwed without Jackson
not only that, the team moving speculation will heat up as each game has fewer and fewer fans. it could get really ugly in a lot of ways without Jackson this year.

With or without Jackson
i think this is going to be a long season. The schedule is unforgiving among many other things.
And seriously, this is tough stance for me to take. I think this is the first time in a long time, I’ve been down on the team this early on. Van, you probably remember my optimism when I was in my former form of “Big Red”. I just can’t muster it up this year…...........
But, I’ll be watching that first kickoff down at my local watering hole, with a traditional good luck Bloody Mary.

Jackson deserves
Right now…all I can really say about Steven Jackson is that when he comes back, the fans should greet him with a well-deserved “Boooooooooooooooooo” in his first game back in the Dome. He can take it as sarcastic irony, or the fans hating him right now…It’d probably a little bit of both.

I disagree to a point
At least he is demonstrating that he wants to be a Ram for a long time.
Personally, I can deal with that. At times I thought he’d take the first chance to bolt (and, really, who here would fault him for it?) for the highest bidding playoff caliber team.

I still think he might.
Holding out for more money does not necessarily mean holding out for more years.

Dang...hit "post" too early...
He also could just be setting himself up for a one year deal, just to get him back on the field…then we’ll franchise tag him next year…and gone after that. This is the pessimistic point of view, I know. Anyway, hope you are correct.

I'm not exactly sure I understand
He’s already under contract for this year and will more than likely be franchised for next year. Where is he going to get that next 1 year contract? Are you saying he want’s more money for this year? You could be right, but I thought I had read somewhere where he was wanting years, not just a one year bump in pay.

You could be right too...
I have no idea. I’m just saying it is a possibility that if this goes on too long, he’ll just want his money and then leave asap.

And how much is his yearly salary?
I know, I should have asked this in the first question. Btw, is there a site like Cot’s for football players contracts? If you don’t know Cot’s is a great website/blog/whatever that lists all aspects of every contract in major league baseball.

Is there anything similar for football? If there is, I won’t have to ask so many questions in the future………
