Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Drifting throgh the draft

Here's my draft thought for the day. If the Rams plan on moving to a 3-4 defense, why are they interested in Glenn Dorsey? By all accounts, Dorsey, while incredibly talented, doesn't fit in a 3-4 scheme. Yes, there's the old saw that you take the best player available, but there's also a lot to be said for drafting for need and scheme.

Anyway, the whole reason I thought of that was because I was going back and reading through the picks in the SBNation mock draft, and the Jets, a 3-4 team through and through, picked Dorsey in that mock draft.

Speaking of the SBN mock draft, the Bucs picked Cal WR DeSean Jackson with the 20th pick. Jackson is said to be Linehan's top choice for a WR in this year's draft. Of course, Jackson is highly unlikely to be available with the Rams 33rd pick, so don't get too set on seeing Jackson in a Rams uniform. Anyway, the analysis on Jackson at the mock draft is interesting, and I can see why he'd be a good fit for the Rams with his speed and run after the catch ability. Would be a nice replacement for Isaac Bruce though, huh?

Ok, those are my late day, droopy eyed, ready to go home and have a beer, thoughts on the draft, which is now just over two weeks away.

Maybe Dorsey is a de
in a 3/4. Carriker would be good at de in a 3/4. I still say we don't have the big NT to go 3/4 every down.

We don't
have enough LB's to go to a 3-4 on a full-time basis...currently have 5 on the roster instead of the usual 7...Haslett will use a 3-4 look on occasion to keep the opposition guessing and to employ some blitz packages, but the Rams will remain a predominantly 4-3 defense...so, drafting Dorsey is clearly a viable and, I think, very good, option...

My best guess at a draft (not my dream, but a guess based on what I think I know)
