Rams 2008 Draft

As a die-hard Rams fan over the past 2 decades I was so pumped to see the Rams take a franchise player like Chris Long.  I think he will come in and contribute to the defense right off the bat.  Hopefully Leonard Little can come back this year with a vengance and put pressure on the outside.  I think the defense is headed in the right direction and J. King was a quality pick in the 4th round with plenty of upside.   I was hoping the Rams would have taken Dan Connor in the 3rd round but I think the OL need was more important.  Overall the Rams did a good job and I'm excited to see some of the young guys get some action this year.  We still have plenty of star players and if Pace is healthy the Rams can definitely be a playoff contender.  Let me know your thoughts.

dan connor would have been nice

but ‘spoon is filling in the middle for us and i don’t think dan connor would have been fast/athletic enough for our defense…but that’s just my opinion.

Rams had good picks the first 4 rounds..

But to trade up for Roy Schuening in the fifth just proves that the Rams do not have the decision making skills to be playoff contenders. Besides the fact that we already signed Jacob Bell, all the scouting reports say that Ol’ Roy is not fast, strong and often losses his balance. His upside? He has a mean streak. Who cares, so does Richie Incognito and that hasn’t helped much. True the Rams have great talent and potential and having Chris Long is exciting but I have no faith in the great mind of Scott Linehan making the right calls to win games when we need to.

i disagree

Roy Schuening was the 2nd rated guard in the draft (after albert). He was projected to go anywhere from the 2nd to 4th round. He is a very good value in the 5th – even with trading up. Roy projects to be a solid starter with good technique. I don’t care that he’s not fast and his strength can be worked on in the weight room. He may not start this year, but adds solid depth to the Rams line and will start at RG in the future.

Spoon

Yeah Spoon definitely had a great year at LB last year and is the head of the defense.

Rams Picks

I totally agree with you about Incognito because he was basically worthless last season. We need some smart linemen who know how to block. Hopefully Pace can stay healthy and keep Bulger off of his back. Scott Linehan is on the ropes and needs a bounce back year or he can hit the road as far as I’m concerned. I haven’t seen any great decisions from the head coach and he always looks like a deer in headlights on the sideline.

Wrong and right

Your wrong about “Incognito” he had injury issies and is a very good player. Watch and see. I agree with your analyst of the draft and love the steal in the 4th round. I kinda wanted Desean Jackson but I think we did pretty damn well. I think John david Booty was THEE 5th round pick for the Rams! I mean there depth is not good and this guy was a steal in the 5th. When the 3rd round came up al lthe TV analyst were sure he would go then….. Bulger is injury prone so I thought they should have jumped on Booty especially in the 5th round…

Incognito and Booty

I find it very hard to believe that Incognito is a very good player. I like how he stepped up in 2006-2007, but being injured isn’t why Incognito was a disappointment this past season. He has little or no self control, and he is constantly hurting the rams with his penalties. The penalties were excusable in 2006-2007 because he was new, but he has shown no sign of improving his self control issues. A John David Booty fifth round pick would have been awesome and it would have made a lot of sense considering both Bulger and Green have had like seventy concussions and Booty has a chance of being a franchise QB. I also would have liked to seen Ali Highsmith taking in the seventh or at very least a SS picked up sometime but overall I’m happy with the draft and ready for August and the Governor’s Cup when Jacob Bell shuts down Dorsey.

i agree

incognito needs to sort out the penalties this year, or he could be out a job.

I'll double your decades

And raise you a Dorsey in the 1st and a LB or SS in the second.
