Bye Bye Byrd

Well here it is, the new look Turf Show Times. Hyperbole aside, it's awesome. I think this will make the whole expereince more enjoyable. More than just commenting and "diaries" we've now got the ability to put photos and videos on the site as well - all of us. Be sure to read the post below, so you can get your old user id switched over, if you haven't already.

The Rams said goodbye to Dominque Byrd , finally, as the drive to rebuild the mental makeup of the team continued. Byrd brought nothing to the team. And the Rams don't need players like that on the roster, not when they're trying to recover from a 3-13 season.

With all the talk on Donnie Avery, the Rams 4th round pick, Justin King, seems to be the one draftniks and pundits are either hot or cold on. Writing for SI, Tony Pauline called King a steal , "King's play was uninspired last season yet his pre-draft workouts and high character had many thinking he'd be drafted early in the second round." Others have scratched their head at the pick.

Alright, take some time to digest the draft and get accustomed to the new site.

Love the new digs

I am a regular over at VEB and have been waiting for this site to switch over to add it to my list. It was so difficult to sign up the old way. Anyway, great draft for the Rams. Not a lot of sizzle but a whole bunch of substance. The Rams drafted a bunch of “football” players and I expect they will see immediate rewards from their first four picks. C. Long will play a bunch on the line, Avery will add immediate speed to the WR corps (I predict 5 TD’s), Greco (sp?) will provide depth at four positions on the line, and King will make a nice nickel/dime back & special team player.

good move

and obviously a look to the future.

agree with indakind on the new digs. makes it easier for me to spend more time around here now that it’s in my pull down menu with viva el birdos et al.

Never thought he would even last this long to be honest

Byrd is a really good TE when his head is on straight.

But it looks like the Rams are taking a new approach to things and won’t stand for any shit anymore.

King

is getting all the attention because draftniks who aren’t that aware of the Rams CB corps think that he was drafted with the idea of instantly starting. That isn’t the case, however, because the Rams have at least 4 CBs who will be in front of him on the depth chart. This was an awesome pick because King has some serious skill that will only get better as he is in a position for a very comfortable transition barring a huge wave of secondary injuries. His speed, muscle, and intelligence will serve as a boost for the special teams. Besides, I would take him getting burned and developing over David Macklin getting burned and rotting up the depth chart.

Memo to D. Byrd:

Congratulations!
You have officially become a chiche! Now you can use your speed, strength, and agility bagging groceries back home at Ralph’s. Way to not realize your opportunity of not only setting up yourself, but your grandkid’s grandkids financial well being and future. Fuck you. You deserve it. Enjoy the real world.

King " steal"

This guy can flat out FLY! 4th round? Gotta love it. I wanted Desean Jackson as the 2nd pick and was torn between long and Dorsey # 1 but am satisfied with the draft picks. Tired of being the Lambs….go RAMS baby!
