Rams @ Falcons, week 17 open thread

St. Louis Rams at Atlanta Falcons, Dec 28, 2008 12:00 PM CST

St. Louis Rams (2-13) WEEK 17 Atlanta Falcons (10-5)
Photobucket VS. Falcons logo
Date: Dec. 28, 2008 Location: Atlanta Georgia
Time: 1 p.m. ET
Stadium: Georgia Dome
TV: FOX Favorite: Atlanta by 14
Weather:
Duh, it's a dome. SBN Cardinals: The Falcoholic

Sorry about the delay, we were having some server problems this morning. Anyway. A loss for the Rams, very likely, and a Chiefs win guarantees the second overall pick.

Greco's starting at LG and Goldberg at RG.

Mercifully, this is the last Rams game of the season.

This should be interesting

No opening drive TD

Counts for something, no?

D looks bad-
Incognito is out
I’m watching on my NFL package- I’ll keep updating until my drinking gets out of hand and I start crying

I wouldn't say bad

Atlanta has a lot of talent and we held them to a FG. Mediocre, maybe?

yup

only 118 long yards to go. i don’t think he’s getting there today.

by stlcardinalsfang on Dec 28, 2008 12:14 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

well- remember he only has 3 quarters to do it- apparently his new contract had a clause that he only has to play 3 a game

Return Team

I have never seen the Rams with a worse return team- nothing doing- Darby returns straight into a pile. Anyone have any info on the longest return for the Rams on the season (I remember one but I think it was called back)

It was Derek Stanley two weeks ago, I think

and yes, our returns are HORRIBLE.

The commentators contributed more to a stunt run by the Falcons than the Rams O-Line, I think it was a wicked cut by Jackson who can finally make those again-

you’re not going to get a return if the opposing team is going to try and pin you down. just get someone who is guaranteed to make the fair catch and not muff it.

like two drives ago when SJ was running like a truck, you need to keep running the ball, at least on first down. instead 3 pass plays, 3 incompletions, punt. momentum gone.

The one before wasn’t terrible, he just thought the curl was going to come on the other side. I know Bulger’s got his detractors, but I really think another year with Avery will help. Now if Holt goes, then it could be ugly again

or evidence that the Rams need him while 17 matures

definitely the latter

Avery needs another year not just to get reps with Bulger, but to remain under the tutelage of a future HOFer
