Bennett and Hall placed on IR
The Rams have reported that Drew Bennett and Dante Hall have been placed on IR and are out for the rest of the season
Bennett has been a complete bust and broke a bone in his foot on opening day against the Eagles. This injury has not healed properly so he'll sit out the rest of the year. This is no big loss for the Rams and actually a blessing in disguise. I don't think Avery would have lost his position as the #2 WR if Bennett came back. This also gives K. Burton a chance to get some more experience.
Dante Hall suffered a high ankle sprain against the Cards on Sunday and the injury apparently is very serious and he'll shut it down for the year. This will give Stanley (who caught an 80 yard TD on Sunday) a chance to return kicks and punts. I believe that Hall had lost a step and was not going to help this team the rest of the year so hopefully some hands on experience will help Stanley out.
The Rams are no stranger to injuries so hopefully the young talent on this team can step up and continue to make plays. Steven Jackson needs to get healthy and hopefully can go at 100 percent on Sunday at the Jets. I'll be at the game cheering on our boys wearing my Rams jersey so keep an eye out and let me know if your going. GO RAMS!

You think?
How many years does Bennett have on his contract? Isn’t it like 4 more years? I don’t think they’ll cut him with 4 years remaining on his contract. If my math is correct, I believe he has 17 million left on his deal.
Btw, I’m getting my information from here.

She'd refused on the grounds that it was unclean. Finally, she was willing to accept her lover's body in places no one had ever trespassed. Specifically, the ear canal.

Hopefully there's a buyout clause
This contract is f’ing ridiculous. Rotoworld has the full details: http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_contract.aspx?sport=NFL&id=238
Cap charges:
$5.05m in 2009
$5.45m in 2010
$5.75m in 2011
$5.75m in 2012
The Rams cannot afford to carry this albatross for four more years. Even if they take a cap hit next season, he has to be bought out and released now.

That wouldn't matter.
NFL contracts aren’t guaranteed. So they could cut him and not owe him a cent after whatever money was “guaranteed” (like the signing bonus).
But, where a team gets handcuffed is the salary cap. While the money may come off the books as far as what the team has to pay, it is still reflected in the salary cap. Now, I’m not at all smart enough to figure out how that works, but I know they’d be stuck with quite a cap penalty if they cut him.

Okay, I'm trying my best to figure this out.
From what I can find, his salary would not be reflected in the cap, however the signing bonus would (10 Million Dollars).
Even though the bonus has already been payed, it gets reflected in the cap as a pro-rated amount over the life of the contract. In this case, 10M over 6 years would be roughly 1.667M each year.
So, even though the money has already been payed out, only two years of the “cap” bonus (3.3332M) has been accounted for leaving 6.66667M left which would be reflected on next year’s cap.
Do the Rams want to have $6.67M sitting there on the cap next year? Or, I guess they could have $6.72M (which I think is what his salary + bonus would come to next year), and hope to get some sort of benefit out of him.
Then if they cut him after next season (2009), his cap hit would be $5M dollars.
Btw, if anyone wants to check my work, I used this to define the cap hit and I used this to figure out his guaranteed money.

If they're going to do that...
..They need to do it this year.
There’s a lot of young talent on the team and it makes it harder to resign them if bennet’s numbers are still floating around by then.
I refuse to believe the salary cap numbers are calculated with anything other than Rainbows and Unicorn farts. :)
