Most Memorable Rams Games Ever???
Hey Guys,
I'm new to the site but love what I see so far and can't wait to get more involved.
A question for you though- If you were to think back over the past 30 years or so of Rams football, which individual games stick out most in your minds? Things like huge comebacks, miraculous wins, crazy things that happened in the stands, Super Bowls, blunder type games (Leon Lett type things)?
Thanks guys!! Just trying to get some insight into what makes the Rams so special to so many of us!!

the obvious few
first followed the rams in 98, so the obvious games of note is that 99 season.
opening the playoffs against the vikings with a deepball TD to bruce.
rickey proehl and his magical catch against TB.
and of course, ‘the tackle". in my opinion, that super bowl is the best of all time, or at the very least the best since 98. haha
then there was that pure ownage game against the packers where aeneas williams and the rest of the secondary picked off a buttload of Farve’s passes, in fact i seem to remember ole aeneas playing out of his mind during that playoff run…
sadly…after that, most of the games after that stick out in a bad way.
obviously vinatieri’s kick (there were still 2 seconds on the clock!!)
Hakim’s crippling fumble on a kickoff.
Steve Smith busting right past Seahorn in overtime.
oh, i do remember a stirring comeback led by Ryan Fitzpatrick against either the texans or bengals, that was pretty cool..
here’s hoping this year will bring some more bright memories.

some games i remember
obviously (both good and bad):
super bowl 34
nfc championship vs TB (prohel’s catch)
divisonal playoffs that year
kickin’ the shit out of the packers
vinateri winning super bowl 36
steve smith in double OT
hakim’s fumble
some of my favorites:
beating seattle @ seattle with a crazy comeback in 2004—shaun mcdonald caught the winning TD pass in OT
beating cincy @ cincy with a ryan fitzpatrick comeback
beating the chargers at home after recovering an onside kick thanks to dre bly and then bulger throwing a TD pass to bruce who made a ridicolous catch
losing to NO @ NO after what i thought was a blocked FG called back because of an offsides call. the saints sat on it from there and kicked the FG with no time left

Random awesome moment..
this would be 89 iirc, vs the Giants at the meadowlands. The Rams are on the goal line and Delpino takes the ball, and the line turns into a big pile, can’t see much, but it was ruled a TD.
The call was reviewed (Full IR back then), and in slomo, you see this pile and right at the end his hand sticks out holding the ball and puts it on the line.
From another angle you see he was sliding over a layer of bodies as the pile closed on top so the play was never dead.
The best part was the instant boo from the crowd when the call was upheld.
Madden was calling that game and had a great quote while the review was underway. Mose Tatupu was the blocking back and was part of the collision, during the tv replay he says.. “The jumper hit the jumper, and knocked the jumper back. so what you had there was a jump off, and the Rams won the Jump off”

My most memorable game is the double overtime playoff game against Carolina.
Martz never took a shot at the end zone at the end of the 4th quarter. He wasted a bunch of time to take the field goal and go to overtime. Missed field goals by both teams in the first overtime and on the first play of the second overtime, Jake Delhomme to Steve Smith. One broken tackle costs us the game, which makes me wonder why Seahorn was one on one with Smith.

Many good and bad memories
In early 70s so many title games for NFC championship, between Rams and Dallas,
Rams and Vickings, The Fearsome Foursome was great to watch in those days
The Super Bowl in 79 against the Sealers , The great years watching Erick Dickerson run
Two great play off wins against the Philadelphia Eagles and the following week the NYG both games won away, only to lose to Joe Montana and the 49rs in the NFC championship, ofcoursce the magical 2000 season and untill 2003 the greates show on EARTH not turf lol
i love this team since i was 5 years old sooooooooo much
hope many more to come

This game always sticks out in my mind for some reason. I was on my way back from Indiana, I think it was, listening to the game on the radio. After the back to back kickoff return TDs to open the game, the Rams began piling on the points.
What was especially interesting about this game, though, was Jeff Wilkins was injured in the first quarter. So what about the kicking game? Screw it, said Mad Mike.
They proceeded to convert fourth downs when necessary and successfully converted four out of five 2 point attempts.
This game pretty much summed up the total awesomeness of the greatest show on turf for me. They won the game 45-29 for their sixth consecutive win to start the season. As we know, things went downhill from there.
Anyway, even though it wasn’t a playoff game, this one just really sticks out for me.

Rams 21 Cowboys 19
The game that stands out for me that nobody mentioned was the first round playoff game after the 1979 season. The Rams had some pretty good teams from the late 60s through the 70s but never quite good enough to get to the Super Bowl and we usually lost to either the Cowboys or the Vikings.
Backup QB Vince Ferragamo had 3 TD passes including a Hail Mary at the end of the first half pulled in by Billy Waddy, I think. The Cowboys got the ball back down by 2 with a minute or two left in the game and a lot of people probably thought they would pull it out but the Ram D put a 4 and out on them to clinch the game.
Because of all the big games the Rams had lost during the 1970s , they were considered chokers by many in the press. I still remember the headline on the game in my local paper the next morning – “Choking Rams Swallow up Cowboys”.

foggy memory from my youth
I’m trying to find the game info online- It seems like it was a Rams Saints game from the mid to late 80’s- My Dad gave up on the game and the Rams came from behind to win (Flipper Anderson was heavily involved?)- I remember it as the point I realized that you stick with your team and when terrible situations become great- it’s all the more enjoyable…
Any help on what game I’m trying to remember?

Waddy catch
Have to agree on the ’79 Dallas game. For years we LA Ram fans watched the Rams lose to Dallas and Minnesota. That game was like breaking a curse and Waddy, who was notorious for his hands of stone, managed to hold onto the ball. I watched the game with Pops, grandad and four uncles-all of us Ram fans- we all held our breath until the ref signalled the TD.
Next has to be the Super Bowl win. After all the years of disappointments I refused to celebrate until the play was over. Too many times I had believed the Rams would win only to be crushed by defeat. Thought the curse was over until Viniateri kicked that damn field goal…
